Today, I was honored to the receive the Florida Farm Bureau’s 2011 Legislator of the Year award! As someone who grew up in agriculture and whose family has deep roots in the ag community, receiving this award means a great deal to me personally. I will always fight to ensure Florida’s agricultural community has the ability to operate in an environment free of excessive government regulation and to continue to be the backbone of our state’s economy.

The Florida Cattlemen’s Association and the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscapers Association each honored with me their 2011 Legislator of the Year awards. I am grateful to these two outstanding organizations for their support, and I am humbled to receive these awards. The Florida Cattlemen and the FNGLA are important parts of Florida’s agricultural community. Their work greatly benefits the people of our state. I will always champion agricultural issues, as agriculture is the pillar of Florida’s economy and a key part of our state’s way of life.

Redistricting Public Hearings in Central Florida July 25 -28

Ahead of the 2012 Legislative Session, the Florida House and Senate will hold approximately 30 public hearings across the state on the once-a-decade process of redistricting. Your input is critically important as we work to redraw legislative and congressional districts for the next decade. Hearings will be held from June 20 through September 1. Meetings will be held in the Central Florida region from July 25 – 28. Here is a list of those meetings:

July 25, Lakeland: Polk State College Main Auditorium; 3425 Winter Lake Road; 2 pm – 5 pm.
July 26, Wauchula: Hardee County Civic Center; 515 Civic Center Drive; 8 am – 11 am.
July 26, Wesley Chapel: Wiregrass Ranch High School Gym; 2909 Mansfield Blvd; 6 pm – 9 pm.
July 27, Orlando: Bob Car Performing Arts Center; 401 W Livingston Street; 2 pm – 4pm, 6 pm – 8 pm.
July 28, Melbourne: Brevard County Commission Chamber; 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way; 10 am – 1pm.

Crisafulli Receives “A” Rating from Florida Chamber of Commerce

I was honored today to receive a 100 “A” rating from the Florida Chamber of Commerce following the 2011 Legislative Session. Ensuring Florida has a business-friendly environment that gets our citizens back to work is my top priority as a legislator. I will always fight for legislation that will make Florida a national leader in economic growth and prosperity.

Crisafulli to Chair House Agriculture & Natural Resources Policy Subcommittee

This week, Speaker Cannon appointed Rep. Crisafulli to chair the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Policy Subcommittee for the 2011 Legislative Session. “I am honored and excited to chair this important committee,” Rep. Crisafulli remarked.

“Agriculture ranked as our state’s #1 industry in 2009, and we must promote good policies to allow this vital industry to continue to flourish in Florida,” Rep. Crisafulli said.

Rep. Crisafulli will also serve as the Vice Chair of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee, which handles the budget of numerous state agencies, including the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.
